| Plastic Bag Fees and Bans Gaining Momentum Across Colorado
10/12/2011 - The Towns of Aspen and Telluride have moved to ban plastic bags to reduce consumer waste, Basalt already is charging a use fee on each plastic bag and the City of Boulder is also considering a use fee on plastic bags. Obviously, there is the waste factor with disposed plastic bags leaching mercury and other chemicals into landfills, but don't forget that using plastic bags and then throwing them away is the equivelant of dumping 12 million barrels of oil a year, oil that could be put to better use in this time of domestic oil scarcity. RUNESTONE ENERGY ORDERS 700 BAGS FOR ANNUAL MEETING
Runestone Electric Association, an electric cooperative serving 13,500 members in central Minnesota recently completed the purchase of 700 Nu Bags which will be given away as an attendance gift at the company's annual meeting. The theme of the meeting this year is "Reduce, Reuse, Then Recycle" which will be printed on the bags in addition to the Runstone logo.
On the decision to purchase Nu Bags, Sue Lundeen of Runstone had this to say: "I spent a great deal of time researching reusable bags as an attendance gift for our electric cooperative’s annual meeting. My first priority was to find a bag made in the USA (not easy to find!). Next, I was after a bag that would be sturdy, convenient to use and dry easily if it got wet. The Eco Mountain bags met all of my expectations, plus they provide excellent customer service."
If you need custom printed bags for your business, school or group contact eco mountain for more information.
